Leaving a Job That No Longer Fit

Before coaching, Wilfredo was a financial advisor at Fidelity. He liked helping people, but the burnout had become impossible to ignore.

“I was burning through people. I was just burnt out. Working from home for four years made me feel disconnected from society and even disconnected from myself.”

That was one of the first patterns to surface in our work together. He missed people, routine, energy, and simple human connection, and the version of himself that had thrived on all of it.

Exploring His Creative Identity

During his sabbatical, Wilfredo took a chance on something he’d been holding onto for years: turning his poetry into a visual art project.

“I released a little visual album on YouTube with seven or eight poems layered with music and visuals.”

Returning to Work With Intention

With that clarity, Wilfredo made a thoughtful decision: return to finance, but with a completely different mindset.

“If I want to be an author, then I can go back to a role that I’m very good at. It doesn’t take much effort for me, and it funds my creativity and my projects.”

He applied, interviewed, and landed a role back at Vanguard, the company where his career started after college.

“I felt like I came back home.”

Going back to an office setting after five years away was hard at first, but it turned into something meaningful.

“It was extremely difficult to show up at first, but after a while, I love going into work. I love it.”

Becoming an Author

Before we wrapped up our work together, we built a six-month plan for Wilfredo to release his first poetry book. Clear milestones, weekly checkpoints, a real structure to lean on.

“I asked you to help me because I struggle with executive function, and we were able to come up with a plan to release my poetry book.”

The target date was October 15. He hit it early.

“I texted you on October 13 and said it is coming out on time, on schedule.”

His debut book, Dewey Brown Eyes Heal, is out in the world now, and it’s already resonating with readers.

“I’m getting messages from people saying my poems resonated with them and made them reflect on their own lives. That is exactly what I wanted.”

“I hope to release another book next year that is longer. I have other ideas in mind and I’m really excited for what’s ahead.”
